Victorian Romance: PORTRAIT POSTHUMOUS

Autor: Jonathan R.L
Portrait posthumous of Virginia Elena Ortea 2014

The Victorian age certainly be considered a unique era. It ranged from architecture to fashion, from the literary and theatrical works to the art itself. His pastels were present in every situation.
This time pertains to an portrait with oil technique in which I represent the softness of color that was personified in the figure of a renowned author in the Caribbean: Virginia Elena Ortea (poet, essayist, playwright, of Puerto Plata and one of the first feminists caribbean in Vitorian age. Oil on canvas (22x28 "vertical).. A pioneer in its literary style in the Dominican Republic. But that unfortunately died untimely. As well as its full of beauty, feeling, and rich in tone, writing style and the paintings captures the essence of the era and an unfinished sentence emanating from the mere observation of the final work.
The visual and technical romance that lived in the progress of this great work custom, my curiosity aroused by this posthumous model. I can assure that having investigated everything related to this premature writer I was immersed in an intimate relationship of mountain experiences and amalgamated delusions pigments remarkable pastel colors of the artwork.

Creative progress

The creative process of the work was quite evolving. The phases manifest leave the grandiose of the final work. Prussian blue, ultramarine blue, cadmium red, cadmium yellow, bright yellow, cadmium red, carmine, titanium white, linseed, turpentine, among others. Riding the canvas between the beautiful brushes smearing wildly and carefully on the finishing touches. The most important work is the look. If this force lacks that default will not occur the expected impact.

The fear of experiencing embarrasses the artist to find shades. Learn to control your fear will lead to a progressive advancement of good management of readiness.

...sees. take the brush and paints.

Finally, my platonic romance with author is equivalent to it in the same city she loved. As would say the same Virginia Elena Ortea in one of his delusions to the ill-fated romantic and dream city that harbored:

"Puerto Plata on the banks of Atlantic sea, and always caressed by waves that move covered in white foam to kiss the sands of its picturesque beach, at the foot of a beautiful, slender and gentle mountain, which rises proud to heaven his emerald dome to crown his forehead with wispy clouds gauze, is the beloved city, nest of my happy childhood, which keeps the sweet treasure the memories of the soul ".

another verse:

"How much has my venture

if I could, enthusiastic,
stepping its green banks,
kissing her lovers beaches,
and when I stretch death
about me black wings,
a loving asylum
ask that beloved land.

Oh, what ineffable delight,

what a pleasure to feel the soul
when watching from afar
wrapped in silver cloud,
green and lofty dome
their proud mountain,
and admire the royal headdress
its gigantic palms,
and inhale the sweet scent
lilies that adorn
as snowy lace
the frontiers of my country!

But since the unholy luck

I threw, cruel, beaches,
and I feel I will miss me
encouragement and hope,
Ay! Let the excitement
give respite to my nostalgia;
let my poor lira
ask for candy, soft notes,
and offer trembling
on the altar of the fatherland".
